NoBAWC Proposal:

  • Discounted membership rates for Nobawc members (20% off membership or digging rights) (unanimously approved!)

Price Raise Proposal:

Raise volunteer hours as well? Why are we raising our membership fee? Because it's worth more and we're going to need more revenue to run our new space. Steven: the goal or raising the membership is not to provide fundraising money, it's to cover operating costs at the new space. Ilana proposes raising volunteer hours to 8 hours,. Jordan points out that it is beneficial to have people volunteer because they develop at relationship with the organization. Ben Joaquin adds that we don't need an excuse to charge $40-- it's still cheap!

Proposal Passed: $40-infinity/year membership, $30 digging rights, volunteer hours remain the same (6 hours), starting August 1st. (samuel to print a new poster)

Proposal: meeting last Sunday of Every month. (not passed)

  • jesse suggests being more efficient at meetings, and that the worknight is important.
  • Meeting for June could be called if we have "unstoppable interest in coordinator roles"

Rag Service: quote is $50-100/month for rags, TP, hand cleaner, towels (cloth towels please!) and aprons.

  • Jesse suggests that paying a service is not in the spirit of the BK. Ilana says we have lots of volunteers and can have them do laundry on saturdays. Perhaps with an ops coordinator we can come up with a system. On the other hand, washing greasy rags at a laundromat is not legit. We should be able to get the cost down to $50 month. There was a lot of input on this decision-- people want:
    • large hand cleaner in bathroom
    • cloth towel in bathroom instead of paper towels
    • system for keeping rags in check ( such as distributing 20 clean ones each shift to the clean bin)

Succession Planning:

  • Everything that happens to make the BK run can be broken down into four clusters:
  • Volunteer Cluster
  • Financial Cluster
  • Operations Cluster
  • IT Cluster

We're looking for people to coordinate these clusters for the next 12-18 months. Detailed descriptions are on the wiki. Rafi has volunteered to take on the Operation Cluster coordinator. Brian is looking to step down as Financial coordinator at the end of July.

Coordinators are not necessarily on the BOD, except the Financial Cluster Coordinator (who becomes the Treasurer).

If you are interested in one of these roles, talk to the person who's taken on the role currently (Volunteer- Josh, Finance- Brian, Ops- Rafi, IT- Alon).

If you're interested in Fundraising, meetings are open-- email rafi or kearstin

To do for ops team: create closing checklist to go through when closing the BK
