Volunteer Cluster Coordinator Job Description

The Bike Kitchen is a volunteer-run organization, and so the Volunteer Cluster Coordinator (VCC) is a crucial job. The position involves learning every aspect of how the Bike Kitchen works and working with all volunteers to ensure the smooth and successful operation of the Bike Kitchen. This person will work closely with the other cluster coordinators. The VCC is free to define sub-roles of the Volunteer Coordinator Cluster and recruit volunteers to fulfill these sub-roles.

Responsibilities

  • ensuring that all shifts are adequately staffed by mechanics and greeters
  • coordinating with class teachers and the IT cluster to make sure that classes are taught regularly, advertised, and full
  • communicating with members
  • orienting and training mechanics and greeters
  • throwing volunteer appreciation events
  • recruiting mechanics

This position requires an average commitment of 5-10 hours per week, inclusive of one 3 hour scheduled mechanic shift per week.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Bike Kitchen (1-2 years experience preferred)
  • Ability to encourage people to volunteer and learn at the Bike Kitchen
  • Strong leadership and organization skills
  • Ability to represent the Bike Kitchen to other organizations and the public
