Rene Ravenel Statement
Hey Chefs,
I’m writing to let every one know that I’m interested in sitting our Board of Directors.
For those of you that may not know me, I’ve been with the Kitchen for about 2.5 years, I worked as a bicycle mechanic for about ten years, and I’m currently employed as a software developer. Most of my involvement with the shop has been serving as the Education Coordinator and running the Basic Tune-up class. Some of the other projects I’ve worked on include supporting the web site, starting our rag service, and running Staff Development nights this past winter.
My interest in a seat on our Board stems from my continued interest in supporting the BK and its mission, and the variety of roles I’ve filled in the past. The last time a seat opened up I had no interest in stepping up to that level of responsibility and commitment. This time, however, I feel that I can’t let myself not apply. I’m ready for a new experience with new responsibilities and after several months off, a renewed commitment will do me well.
I tend to be a big-picture, visionary type of thinker with strong organizational skills. I have several friends that sit on the Boards of other local non-profits in art and education, and one at RSF Social Finance (http://rsfsocialfinance.org/). All of them will be happy to offer advice, contacts and referrals, and those that I have mentioned this to have encouraged me to apply.
Please consider me when it comes time to vote - I’m really looking forward to serving on our Board of Directors.
Thanks, -Rene
