These are things that you may want to have collectively, if you're riding with a hub.

Cycling essentials
Each rider should carry these items.
- Bicycle
- Helmet
- Two panniers
- Bike rack for holding panniers--must be able to support at least 50lbs
- Tire patch kit (don't get a glue-less one)
- Set of tire levers
- Three spare tubes in your tire size
- Multi-tool
- Set of Allen keys
- Hand pump
- Two water-bottle cages
- Two one-liter bicycle water bottles
- Three bungee cords in different lengths
- Durable bike cable lock
- Three-liter water hydration pack (Camelbak and Platypus are two popular brands)
Cycling extras
These are quasi-optional.
- Cycling computer (for tracking mileage)
- Rear-view mirror
- Cycling gloves (strongly recommended)
Clothing essentials
A lot of things on this list are specified "synthetic," but wool often works as well. We avoid cotton because of how it retains moisture and can get 'really' cold.
- Two pairs padded cycling shorts
- Four t-shirts (at least three should be synthetic or non-cotton)
- Light/medium synthetic vest
- Long-sleeved synthetic shirt
- Medium-weight fleece jacket, either zip or pullover
- Water-proof jacket (essential)
- Regular shorts (preferably synthetic--NOT heavy cotton cargo shorts or jean shorts)
- Quick-drying swimsuit
- Four pairs of underwear
- Two or three sports bras
- Four pairs of socks (preferably synthetic)
- Shoes for cycling (running, all-terrain, tennis, or recessed-cleat shoes are all fine)
- Sports sandals for off-bike, camping, swimming
- Baseball cap or sun hat
Clothing extras
- Water-proof pants
- Medium-weight fleece pants
Camping gear
- Sleeping bag with stuff sack
- Inflatable or closed-cell foam sleeping pad
- Tent, preferably under five pounds
- Tupperware or Rubbermaid plastic bowl, 6-8" with lid and cutlery (works as plate and bowl)
- Travel mug
- Small LED headlamp
Personal items
- Toiletries--travel-sized containers are a must
- Small bath, camp or quick-dry towel
- Sun block
- Lip balm with sun protection
- Insect repellant
- Picture ID
- Medical insurance card
- Sunglasses
- Camera
- Journal and pen
- Books
- Spending money
